Happiness is the Ultimate Purpose of Human Existence

smileyfaceEvery human being on the planet wants to be happy. Anything that anyone desires is because they think their desire will make them happy. Whether it is health, money, a loving relationship, material things, accomplishments, a job, or anything at all, the desire for happiness is the bottom line of all of them. But remember that happiness is a state inside of us, and something on the outside can only bring fleeting happiness, because material things are impermanent.

Permanent happiness comes from you choosing to be permanently happy. When you choose happiness, then you attract all the happy things as well. The happy things are the icing on the cake, but the cake is happiness.    Everyone is responsible for their own happiness,  so often we base our own happiness on what or how others think or feel about us.  You have to worry about YOU and not other people. You have to “save” yourself before you can save anyone else.   Happiness is totally dependent on yourself and not other people.   People can (if you let them) suck the very life out of you… YOU have the power to revoke the effect they can have on your life with their negativity by deliberately choosing to be happy yourself,  regardless of what others may think .   I always enjoyed the  following quote from Mother Teresa;
   “People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
― Mother Teresa
I realize this sounds cliche,  but as Aristotle once said ” Happiness depends on ourselves….”    No matter how you think someone is affecting you negatively,  you and you alone have the power to revoke the negativity they spew at you by changing the frequency you’re on.   Two negative fields are NEVER a pretty sight.  If you find yourself getting into a negative situation,  do what you can to dissolve it by saying something positive or looking for compensation in the negative event that happened.   This can be challenging but it sure beats heading down the slippery slope of negativity and angst.  Find the good in everything… so many times we are busy labeling and counting the bad things that we often overlook all the good in life.  Make a deliberate effort to look for the positive and change your life.
I am a big believer in positive energy and what it means in our lives…  One of my favorite speakers is Bob Proctor…. I listen to him whenever I get a chance.
