Something Interesting Just Happened

When I am in the creation mode I often go into a feeding frenzy of sorts to gather the tools I need for my latest project.  I am always looking for the cheapest or most cost effective way to get licensed content.   I stress licensed content because it is just the right thing to do AND I don’t care much for a cease and desist letter from an irate copyright holder that I published some of their work as my own.  I would not want someone to do that to me.. or at least  not give me credit.  I am all about tit for tat and have contacted people that I have included their images, music, etc in my derivative work.   But what truly is original, right?

Anyway, in my thirst for information I stumbled upon Videoblocks.com and all I can say is WOW.  I am not going to do a big review here,  just wanted to stress that when you go to cancel your subscription ($79/month) they offer you a reduced rate of $14.84 a month.  That is obviously a substantial savings.   I do not care to pay for content when I am using it,  but I could not justify an $79 a month expenditure on something that would be used casually.   I looked at their license agreement and it seemed to be pretty liberal…  so if you are looking for stock video, motion backgrounds, production music or after effects,  video blocks can be your one stop shop.   I was initially interested in their selection of video overlays,  not as comprehensive as IstockPhoto,  but they don’t have this pricing model either….   Regardless,  in the future,  I will definitely compare the two when I needed.
