I know—it’s not summer yet. But today was one of those warmer-than-expected days, the kind that tricks your brain into thinking ahead. You step outside, feel that little hint of heat in the air, and suddenly you’re mentally packing away jackets and reaching for shorts. That’s exactly what got me thinking about this outfit.

This is one of my go-to warm-weather combinations: a State & Liberty polo paired with their shorts. It’s simple, clean, and comfortable without looking sloppy. That’s always been the appeal for me with their stuff—it’s casual, but it still feels intentional. The fit is athletic without being tight, and the stretch makes it easy to wear all day without thinking about it.

The polo works especially well when temperatures are in that in-between zone. It’s light, breathable, and structured enough that you don’t feel underdressed if you run into someone or decide to stop somewhere last minute. Same with the shorts—tailored enough to look sharp, relaxed enough to feel like summer.

I finished the look with Alexander McQueen sneakers, which have basically become my default. They dress things up just enough without feeling overdone, and they balance out the casual side of the shorts perfectly. You could swap them out for something more athletic, but I like keeping this kind of outfit slightly elevated.

Even though summer isn’t officially here, days like this are a reminder that it’s coming. And when it does, this is exactly the kind of outfit I’ll be living in—easy, comfortable, and put together without trying too hard.

Sometimes all it takes is one warm day to get your wardrobe—and your mindset—ready for what’s next.
