I give you a brief glympse in the day of an Infroprenuer….. Entrepreneurship and Internet marketing in its many derivatives has been on my mind since 1988….. when I (illegally) d/loaded software from Q-link (predecessor to AOL) and sold it to people I chatted with on BBS’s… Yes I was very young. But it wasn’t until this time in 1998 that I decided to get real serious and make something work. I decided the rat race wasn’t for me and made plans to escape it. It was a process. I finally registered my first domain in 1998. I decided to squat on a popular Las Vegas casino domain…. I failed miserably, it didn’t turn out well and I was threatened, but I availed the situation and used it as fuel to drive me further.
Since that time, parts of my business are no more… parts have collapsed and burned to the ground… taking away money and cherished memories along with it. Some people I knew in those days who helped me on my journey are no longer in my life… or are gradually fading away…. Then there are others who just entered my story, maybe to stay for the duration. Who really knows for sure.
I do know that the lessons I learned over the last 2 decades are priceless. They’re lessons you don’t get in any business school. You only get these lessons by experiencing them first hand by attending the school of hard knocks. Tuition is very expensive and not everyone makes it. I’m fortunate and grateful I started very young.
. The lesson for you: whatever you do in life, never stop building upwards. It’s cliche yes, but never give up on your dreams, whatever they may be. Age doesn’t matter, education doesn’t matter, nothing really matters but your desire to succeed and overcome the obstacles and challenges you will inevitably face. Remember, every word you speak, every positive thought you have, every good deed you do , every action you take and every mistake you make are the building blocks for you to become the best version of yourself possible.
