I Just Watched “America’s Broken Dream: The Middle-Class Families Living in Motels | Poverty in the USA Documentary” on YouTube

I watched this yesterday…It was from a European perspective, meaning the producer who made the documentary was based in Europe. It featured several families with children who were living out of weekly rental hotels. It was heart breaking to watch. Most of the people interviewed were in their 40’s and 50’s with several children. Being on social media gives you the illusion that everyone is fabulously rich, successful and happy.. It’s just not true, there are millions of...

I Just Watched “Audrey Hepburn: Film and Fashion Icon | Full Documentary | Biography” on YouTube

I finished watching “Audrey Hepburn: Film and Fashion Icon’ a few hours ago… I didn’t realize she died in her 60’s in Jan 1993.. I must have gotten her mixed up with someone else. I also didn’t realize she was born in Belgium and was a British citizen. Near the end of the documentary, her long term partner, Robert Wolders, was interviewed. He was very good looking….Its so strange when you see people on old shows that you...

I Just Watched “Amelia Earhart: Queen Of The Air | Full Documentary | Biography” on YouTube

I just finished watching this on YouTube. She was 39 when she disappeared… she was declared dead in absentia on Jan 5, 1941. I wonder what she would think of the world today… or even in the 40’s and 50’s… a lot was going on in those decades as well. Her sister was interviewed (she died in 1998, this documentary was filmed in 1996) and said she talked a lot about not living very long. She no longer...

I Just Watched “World’s Longest Reigning Living Monarch | The Life Of Queen Elizabeth | Real Royalty” on YouTube

One of the people interviewed said the chances that Queen Elizabeth would be queen would be similar to Princess Beatrice becoming Queen today, it’s unlikely. She, nor her father for that matter, expected to become the King or Queen…. As we know, it wasn’t until his brother’s abdication that paved the way for Elizabeth to become Queen. I’ve heard it on several documentaries I’ve watched about the queen… that she has always been low key and kept her...

I Just Watched “Escaping the Blitz” on YouTube

This is an oral history that was published last year in 2020… at least that was the date on the credits. I’m not entirely sure when these interviews were done, since the Pandemic has been going on for almost two years. It was sad to hear some of the stories. The people in this oral history were children during the blitz and survived. Some of them had lost their entire families.. Many had to leave their families and...

I Just Watched “Berlin Wall Guards Tell Harrowing Tales Of East Germany | Our History” on YouTube

This was very interesting…. and also heart breaking at the same time. It came out in 1991, so not long after the wall had fallen. At the end, one of the guards thought he may have to eventually face charges from the West. One part that really touched me was a former guard who shot a father of two in 1962 came to visit and ask for the sons’ forgiveness. It was very very good, definitely worth a...

I Just Watched “The Tunnel” 1962 Full Documentary escape under the Berlin Wall” on YouTube

This is a documentary that chronicles three University students digging a tunnel underneath the Berlin Wall. It was financed by NBC. The students were given the equivalent of $150k for the exclusive rights to film them digging. It was hosted by Piers Anderton who was 44 years old at the time. He died 41 years later at 85 years old. Construction had just started in August of 1961, I found it interesting that a major network condoned doing...
