I Just Watched “America’s Broken Dream: The Middle-Class Families Living in Motels | Poverty in the USA Documentary” on YouTube

I watched this yesterday…It was from a European perspective, meaning the producer who made the documentary was based in Europe. It featured several families with children who were living out of weekly rental hotels. It was heart breaking to watch. Most of the people interviewed were in their 40’s and 50’s with several children. Being on social media gives you the illusion that everyone is fabulously rich, successful and happy.. It’s just not true, there are millions of...

I Just Read “Zillow’s home-buying debacle shows how hard it is to use AI to value real estate”

I’m not at all surprised. I’m actually studying a similar algorithm but it’s also laced with problems. There are just some things that are difficult to quantify or problems that don’t appear until afterwards. Bots are common with forex, stocks and even crypto.. but I think we have a long way to go before we can evaluate real estate algorithmicaly for quick profits.. Where I’m from, where the terrain is rolling and uneven, homes that have structural damage...

I Just Read “The Washington Post: The eviction moratorium is about to end. Rent relief hasn’t arrived. These renters decided to take action.”

I hate seeing people suffer, especially needlessly. The money is available, why in the hell aren’t they getting it? At least some landlords are understanding and know that they will eventually get their money. There is not much worse than not knowing where you’re going to lay your head at night. My heart absolutely breaks for these people. Again, I ask you, why must people suffer? The Washington Post: The eviction moratorium is about to end. Rent relief...

I Just Watched “New York’s Skyscrapers by 2030” on YouTube

I’ve always fantasized about living high up in a nice skyscraper. The closest I’ve ever gotten so far is the 11th floor of the St. James. I loved that apartment. I’d like to buy one in that building again and stay there when I’m in Huntington. In today’s world, you can make your real estate holdings habit more affordable by renting them out short term…. Though you have to be aware of the condo building’s rules. Anyway, this...

I Just Read “Renters, and Biden’s $15,000 homebuyer tax credit”

“The Biden administration has released few policy details about the first-time homebuyer tax credit, but one key difference with earlier tax credits is that the money would be available to borrowers up front at the time of closing. With previous tax credits, borrowers paid the money out of their own pocket to buy the house, and were reimbursed at tax time.” It could be a good time to be a first time home buyer . I Just Watched”Fran Lebowitz Discusses Docuseries “Pretend It’s A City” and NYC Pandemic Living | The View” on YouTube

I’d love to be able to see this. Near the end she (Fran) was asked if she thought NYC was on the decline and whether it’s very bad again like it was in the 70’s…. She said no and that it’s an excellent time for people to move there if they wanted a taste of big city life…. It’s a lot cheaper than it has been and rents will be going back up soon enough. I’ve also noticed...

I Just Watched “How To Get A Council House S01e01 720p” on YouTube

I enjoy learning how real estate works in other countries .. They have something called shared ownership where you buy shares in a property. You can increase your ownership percentage as you can afford it. All properties bought this way are leasehold, basically meaning you never really own the property in the traditional sense… This is done in Hawaii as well. This series focuses primarily on social housing…. Anyway, very interesting. https://youtu.be/YlXOJ1T42BQ

I Just Watched “What It’s Like to Be Evicted in the Middle of a Pandemic” on YouTube

This is a short newscast about people living in New Orleans getting evicted. Apparently they have very strict eviction laws that do not favor the tenant. I understand that landlords need to pay their mortgage, etc but one of the interviews the presenter did was very disturbing. In court, a tenant offered to catch up on the rent minus the current month due… She was offering $2800…. The landlord wouldn’t do it. That really bothered me. I’d love...
