Jailed for Life for Stealing a $159 Jacket? 3,200 Serving Life Without Parole for Nonviolent Crimes
Comments:
Reading this really bothered me. They mentioned Obama having the worst clemency record of all the president’s… At least as of 2013… Not sure how true that is now.
It’s scary to think you can get mandatory life in prison for non violent crimes but only get ten years for murder… Not manslaughter, where it’s not premeditated… but murder… It’s very scary. I’ve read how other countries deal with crime and punishment.. I’ve come to learn it’s totally different from how the US deals with it.
I watched a segment on 60 minutes awhile back on how Germany deals with crime and punishment… they do it much differently than the US… It’s no secret the US locks up more of its citizens by percentage than any other country in the world.
See the video below for the 60 Minutes Segment. It’s very eye opening.
