The benefits of having your own business or side hustle are unparalleled to anything else you will ever do. Why? Because there are virtually NO limits. YOU call the shots. YOU decide how far you want to take it or how much or little you want to work.. For someone who never liked to be told what to do or how to do it, it was inevitable that at 26 I’d quit my cozy job at UPS and Coca Cola (yes, I had two jobs, I didn’t want a day to go by that I wasn’t being productive and making money.)
Plus I had big plans that needed financed… and the thoughts of devoting the balance of my life, even at 26, for a company who really didn’t care about me was just nauseating. I couldn’t handle it. So I made a plan… When the opportunity finnally arose to put it into action, I took it and ran. I ran fast. I didn’t look back. I made no apologies and offered no explanations to anyone for anything.. I just did it.
Is it for everyone? Absolutely not. I took HUGE risks over the past twenty years and have had several major failures, blows and setbacks… some of which I’m still trying to recover from. But without risk there is no reward. Without failure there is no success. It’s the duality of life in constant motion that every one of us is subject to.
With that in mind, there are many ways to be your own boss, without the risk, until you get to the point where you can safely take on bigger challenges… if that’s your plan. For me though, it’s not about having a zillion and one dollars to spend frivolously or on a lavish lifestyle. I like nice things, I just have no desire to get crazy with it. For me, it’s the freedom it brings. For me, it’s about controlling my own destiny without having to endure the ever growing degree of corporate fickleness. For me, it’s the opportunity to better serve our fellow man, because the resources we need to do so are under my control.
You have to figure out your own reasons. You have to figure out how much risk you can take on and still survive. Everyone must follow their own path. This episode I’m discussing making money with virtual call centers. It’s really opened my eyes even further to the bountiful opportunities that exist to live a more fullfilled and happy life. I hope that it can do the same for you.
