I Just Watched “The Century: America’s Time – 1936-1941: Over The Edge”

I’m watching a 14 part series titled “The Century: America’s Time” that originally aired in April of 1999. I added the series to my watch list in July of this past year. Luckily, I was able to find it on YouTube, most of the episodes are in there. One mam who was interviewed especially intrigued me, his name was Henry Metelmann, he died in 2011… He was on another BBC 2 Timewatch documentary titled “Through Hell for Hitler”....

I Just Watched “Berlin Wall Guards Tell Harrowing Tales Of East Germany | Our History” on YouTube

This was very interesting…. and also heart breaking at the same time. It came out in 1991, so not long after the wall had fallen. Last Minute Deal: $705/Person Novum Hotel Aldea Berlin Zentrum

This is for travel in less than 15 days from now (Dec 13) and INCLUDES airfare from Columbus, OH.   Not sure you could beat the price.   The airfare alone from CMH would be much more than $705, especially this close to departure (December 13). I am not a fan of pre-paying for trips and having my money tied up for weeks or months…. It’s money I can use to invest and work for ME, instead of it working...

No, Mexico City is not “The New Berlin”: A response to Vice

It appears that every couple of months, some pseudo-Hipster publicationwill suddenly discover my hometown, and write a piece (usually in English) about how it’s “the hottest place” for the bohemian trendy expat set. Usually when this happens, many of my fellow liberal, college-educated chilango millennials will fawn over the article, getting the validation they so desperately crave. Suddenly, all the anxieties over endless daily commutes seem to disappear with a foreigner telling them they live in “the coolest...

My Life in Berlin During the 80’s (updated)

I’m Planning a trip to Berlin Soon.  I am sharing everything I’m learning before I go (best airlines for the money, costs, places I want to visit) and will be sharing and writing about it once I get there @ MyTripToBerlin.   I lived in #Berlin close to the end of the Cold War which lasted roughly from 1947 to 1991.   I hailed from a small city in West Virginia,  so Berlin was magnitudes different from my hometown of Huntington....
