I Just Watched “Concorde A Supersonic Story (BBC 2017). Iconic Airplanes In History”

I really enjoyed this… At one point Joan Collins was interviewed…. along with several flight attendants, pilots, people who worked on building it and even passengers… They only had one profitable route, New York to London… so they started chartering the plane out….There were people who profited from selling day excursions to exotic places. When the Concorde crashed in 2000, it was a chartered flight headed for a cruise. The last flight was in 2003. One of the...

I Just Watched “Escaping the Blitz” on YouTube

This is an oral history that was published last year in 2020… at least that was the date on the credits. I’m not entirely sure when these interviews were done, since the Pandemic has been going on for almost two years. It was sad to hear some of the stories. The people in this oral history were children during the blitz and survived. Some of them had lost their entire families.. Many had to leave their families and...

I Just Watched “Secrets Of The Royals – Royal Palaces – British Royal Documentary” on YouTube 🏰🏰

The queen pretty much has a residence everywhere in the kingdom except Wales. Can you imagine how much it would cost to maintain these places, especially considering their age? One thing that surprised me was how modest the queen’s actual living quarters were… I’ve watched and read quite a bit about the royals and she seems to be pretty down to earth and not pompous like you may expect. https://youtu.be/ioYbQk57Sz8

I’m Watching “Elizabeth II: Our Queen Episode 3 – Crown in Crisis – British Royal Documentary” on YouTube. πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘

I did not realize that the royal family did not pay taxes, specifically inheritance taxes. The Royals have been under constant threat of losing their royal status, with calls over the years to dismantle the monarchy. But they never seem to be bothered by it… In typical British fashion… they “remain calm and carry on” Who knows what they worry about in private though.. they don’t typically show emotion in public. I’m going to figure out eventually what...

I Just Watched “Diana, Princess of Wales’ 60th birthday – British Royal Documentary” πŸ‘ΈπŸ‘‘

I have watched several documentaries on princess Diana but this is the only one that I’ve seen footage and pictures from when she was a child. This documentary also said how her husband, Prince Charles, wasn’t in love with her, but was still in love with Camilla Bowles. Princes Diana at one point told a journalist who was interviewing her “that there were three people in the marriage” It must have been overwhelming for her to deal with...

I Just Watched “It’s Not Unusual, A Lesbian & Gay History Part 2 (BBC2, 1997)” on YouTube

This documentary aired on the BBC in 1997. They talk with men who were thrown in jail for being gay. The first one they spoke with was born in 1919…. So he would have been in his mid to late 70’s when this was filmed. I’m still watching it, just wanted to take some notes. I will write more later.

I’m Watching “The Universal Credit Crisis – BBC Panorama” on YouTube

This is the second documentary I’ve watched about real estate in the United Kingdom. Universal Credit in The United Kingdom is similar to welfare in the States. The UK is switching their benefits program to making one payment to the family instead of paying everything separately. For example, instead of giving the housing allowance (section 8 in the States) directly to the landlord, they give it to the beneficiary instead. Many people are complaining that they are not...
