I run a couple of math-related YouTube channels—one focused on applied math for business, and another centered on data science. As you can imagine, there’s quite a bit of overlap between the two.
Across most of my channels, the audience tends to skew older, usually 40+. Even on TikTok, where I mainly post history content, the demographic is similar. Recently, I ran a little experiment: I cross-posted some math problems to channels that aren’t math-focused. For instance, I uploaded a few to my personal channel, which normally has nothing to do with math.
To my surprise, the results were pretty close. On my personal channel, about 75% of viewers answered the problems correctly, while on my math-focused channels the average was 91%. That makes me think the questions I used were probably too easy.
