Danny was the British RuPaul of his day. He died at 81 in 2009.. He was with his partner for 40 years when he died in the 80’s. What a brave guy to do drag during the sexual mccarthyism of the 50’s and 60’s… it’s so sad when you think about it.
During the 80’s, at age 55 he had to start over after losing everything due to a bad business deal. He was millions of dollars in debt and also lost his partner around the same time. Could you imagine going through that? My heart breaks for him even though he’s not even around anymore and none of it even matters. I hope wherever he is that he’s found peace.
He eventually cleared his debts but never romantically partnered with anyone again..
I enjoyed hearing about his life and the people he shared it with. They interviewed several people who knew him.
