Does Life Just Happen to Us? A Humanistic Perspective

I know some tease and are fervently opposed to my humanistic points of view… . but this is one of my favorite quotes by Prentice Mulford, who was not only a pivotal contributor to the New Thought movement but helped me to form my opinions on infinite intelligence.

  ” When you say to yourself, ‘I am going to have a pleasant visit or a pleasant journey,’ you are literally sending elements and forces ahead of your body that will arrange things to make your visit or journey pleasant. When before the visit or the journey or the shopping trip you are in a bad humour, or fearful or apprehensive of something unpleasant, you are sending unseen agencies ahead of you which will make some kind of unpleasantness. Our thoughts, or in other words, our state of mind, is ever at work ‘fixing up’ things good or bad in advance.”  – Prentice Mulford

  So…. you think life just happens to you?  That it’s all by chance?  That we are all just avatars or meat suits in some giant,  predestined, unforgiving, life-like, science fiction virtual reality? I think not. You have a lot more control over your destiny than I believe you realize. Tap into this infinite source of power and wisdom, it’s yours for the taking.. Noone can force you and Noone is going to spoon feed you either.  You have to discover and mine this unlimited source of energy for yourself.  If you want change,  change.. If you want something, go get it.  If you like the way things are.. do nothing. It’s forever your choice, noone can choose for you unless you let them. Do you really want someone else calling the shots in YOUR life?

So what are you going to do?  Are you happy?  Good!  Then keep doing what you’re doing!  If not,  take baby steps so you can live life to the fullest!   Each of us has a finite amount of time on this beautiful planet we call home. Why not make the most of the limited time we have? Why not spend it with the people who make us the happiest?  Why not leave a legacy that your heirs will be proud of?  Every second,  every minute of every day you are creating your future.  You are also contributing to the future of others, so tread lightly!  This is some serious stuff we are talking about.  It’s not a time to be cavalier.  The future is depending on you.

Make your future a good one!  YOU are in control,  YOU are the driver on the highway of life,  noone else.  Remember that!

Control your mind, control your destiny.  Choose  NOT to control your mind,  your destiny will choose to control you.   It’s YOUR choice!

Choose carefully,  after all it’s your life we’re talking about.
