How do you let go of drama? – Ram Dass

Don’t treat yourself so gingerly; you can let go of stuff. Sometimes it takes three breaths instead of two to do it, but you can do it. Be a little tougher and don’t cling to stuff. People go around carrying everybody’s stuff all of the time. I just pick it up and put it down. Pick it up and put it down. That doesn’t mean I’m not compassionate, it doesn’t mean I don’t love people. But holding onto people’s suffering is not compassionate… for them or for you. That’s what is so bizarre about it.

In order for your consciousness to not be trapped in the stuff of life, it takes some effort, discipline and work with one’s mind.

Many times people look after their physical health MORE than they do their mental health. But I think it’s just as important, don’t you?

We have no problem going to the gym daily, working our bodies, building muscles, but completely ignore something equally as important – our mind. Are you working out your mind? Do you even know how? Many do not. It’s not their fault, we weren’t trained to work out our minds. For many it comes naturally, others it requires a bit of training. They get that training by reading or listening to self help books, watching uplifting stories online or on television. They surround themselves with positive, driven people who help propel them into a constant state of bliss.

Who wants to be around cranky, negative people all the time? Some people actually feed on it.

Regardless, I’m sharing this article by Ram Dass with you, it may open your mind up to the importance of training your mind to be healthy, the same way you train your body to.
