I Just Watched “LARRY KING LIVE with ELIZABETH TAYLOR of HOUSE OF TAYLOR JEWELRY MAY 2006 CNN”

I just watched an interview on Larry King that he did with Elizabeth Taylor. I didn’t realize she was British and born in London, England.. Someone was calling in to ask a question from WV and Larry King was kind of short with the woman… You could tell she was nervous and just fumbling over her words… But Larry did call the caller “dear”…. But it still bothered me.

He also was kind of short with Kathy Ireland, who was working with and is a partner of Elizabeth on her jewelry line. I know he probably has to be careful with people wasting time…But if it were me, I’d edit that part out… But supposedly it’s live??

Elizabeth was the first woman who earned a million dollars per movie. She was a big advocate for Aids victims and took verbal abuse and threats over it…

They briefly discussed her relationship with Michael Jackson and the accusations that were made against him. They first became friends when she left a concert of his because she couldn’t see… He found out and thought she walked out because she wasn’t enjoying the show.. Apparently they spoke for several hours that night and became good friends.

At one point Larry King asked if her eyes were purple, which I thought was strange…He did say they were pretty though. They also talked about rumors that Elizabeth Taylor was sick and dying. He asked Elizabeth if she thought about dying and what she thought happened afterwards. She basically said she was too busy to worry about it but she did think that a person’s spirit lived on. I’m not sure if it was intentional, but she avoided speaking about her views on religion and Larry King didn’t probe any further. I’ve noticed that Larry King has asked a lot of his guests about death…i find that interesting.

I have found a common theme among people who are high acheivers… They don’t succumb to depression and negative thoughts. They stay busy and keep moving forward… I think there is something to be said for that.

My grandmother Higginbotham always said “People wouldn’t have time to be depressed if they did the work they were supposed to do”. I’ve found that to be true and not just for celebrities. Anyone can stay busy (even if it’s hard, it’s so much easier to sulk) but high achievers seem to stay busy with those things that benefit them the most financially..

It all sounds so easy though, doesn’t it? The kicker is how to actually put it into action? What should you focus on? Our brain is a complicated organ and The answer I believe is different for everyone.

Elizabeth Taylor would die five years after this interview premiered… Michael Jackson would die approximately three years later and Larry King himself 15 years later.

Anyway, this was a good interview… I just love watching interviews.. I’ve been watching a lot of them for my history of Hollywood and entertainment projects…
