I’m really liking 5G, this is why it will be a game changer in the years to come… The lowest it’s been so far is 44…. I remember fantasizing as a kid running my bbs from a cell phone, as they called it then. My grandparents didnt like the idea of having a 2nd phone line just so “computers could talk” So I only took calls before 9pm and after 7am… It never stopped some people from calling during the day and very late at night though… My grandmother would get so upset with me…. rightfully so. She wouldn’t allow the phones to be unplugged…. So they often rang at ungodly hours..
I tried and tried to talk her into a second line… I told her I would even pay a year in advance… But she didn’t understand what I was trying to do. So after I had xhausted all of my options, I turned to running an irc channel to satisfy my desire of building a community of like minded people..
Anyway, BBS’s are extinct of course (irc is still around)….but access to the outside world is now super fast, unlimited and off the charts in what it can do. Will be interesting to witness the evolution of tech 5, 10, 20 years years from now..
