Thoughts on Canva.com

I  like that Canva has a teams feature… I’m not great at design… but  I can get someone else to do it while using content I’ve already licensed… etc. You have to be super careful about outsourcing design… If they’re using unlicensed media, you could eventually find yourself in hot water.  The copyright owner may come after you ten years later… I’ve seen it happen. It’s happened to me, scary stuff…

Anyway,  It’s easier to collaborate on Canva … it keeps everything in one place…  I go further and use airtable to record every project the media was used on… along with all the details pertaining to where, how and who designed it… So if there is ever an issue, I have a better idea on how to handle it…

I’ve been selling some of the designs on Etsy… If you do the same… and outsource and sell products online using any kind of design, just make it clear in the job post that you retain all rights to whatever they create… and they must use licensed material that you ok first… I also recommend NEVER hiring anyone outside of a legit platform, such as freelancer.com, upwork.com etc…

Gotta always make sure you have recourse.  It can be an expensive lesson if you choose not to…
