GoSherpa Interview: From a $27 Expired GoDaddy Auction to $10,000 Sale – With Marty Pelletier

But FIRST my annotations…

Marty Pelletier, like many people, has  been taking advantage of the Cannibus Market…. but not in opening up pot shops or investing in marijuana penny stocks.  Instead, he’s investing in Cannibis domains,  specifically ones that have expired.  Personally,  I’ve never had that kind of profit on a 27 dollar domain,… at least not from flipping it right after it was purchased.  I HAVE  made that much money by purchasing an expired domain and turning it into a database driven site.   Why?  Because many times these sites have authority in Google,  built in backlinks, etc.   So (not as much now – you have to do more homework) you can profit nicely by taking advantage of their status in the search engines.  I use several tools to find the gems…. I try to get the domain to be as close as possible to what it is I want to promote.   Though it doesn’t have to be… I’ve purchased domains for a pretty penny that were completely devoid of any relevance to whatever it was I was peddling.    You (or someone you hire) could have a full time job finding the nuggets of gold.  Of cousre you don’t tell the person too much and risk them gobbling up all the gems for themselves.

I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage,  “Takes money to make money”.   It does indeed,  typically the higher the risk, the higher the reward.  I don’t recommend doing this NOR penny stocks until you’ve really done your homework.  What do I mean by homework?  Study sits such as DomainSherpa and Domaining.com…  Ask questions and get answers in the forums.

Be sure to listen to the podcast…. it’s availabe on Youtube,  MP3 download or listen to it on Stitcher or Itunes…  links are below or on the original article @   www.domainsherpa.com.   BTW, there is also a transcript of the interview below the article…

From a $27 Expired GoDaddy Auction to $10,000 Sale – With Marty Pelletier

On this Profitable Flip show, we talk to Marty Pelletier, a domain name investor who focuses on marijuana-related domain names.

From his personal experience, he understands the difference between cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), two main ingredients in the marijuana plant.

While many other domain investors focus on THC, Pelletier has bought up many CBD domain names, one of which he picked up as an expired domain name for $27 that he sold for $10,000.

Learn how he’s managing his portfolio and is expanding into other positively trending areas like virtual reality and drones.

Michael Cyger: On today’s Profitable Flip show, we’re going to learn how a $27 domain name bought at a GoDaddy auction sold for $10,000. Stay tuned.

I have three sponsor messages before we get into today’s show.

First, if you’re buying or selling a domain name or portfolio and you want an estimate of it’s value, Estibot.com is the place to go. Just like you’d visit Zillow.com to get an estimate of a house value, Estibot.com provides key information about the most important statistics so you can make an informed decision based on data.

Second: Serious about online trading? Secure your funds, keep your merchandise safe, and use a company that keeps the buyer and seller protected the whole way through. That’s Escrow.com. Payments you can trust.

Finally, if you’re a domain name investor, don’t you have unique legal needs that require domain name technical know-how and industry experience? That’s why you need David Weslow of Wiley Rein. Go search for David Weslow on DomainSherpa, watch his interview and you can see for yourself that he can clearly explain issues, can help you with buy/sell agreements, deal with website content issues and UDRP actions, and even help you write your website terms and conditions. David Weslow is the lawyer to call for Internet legal issues. See for yourself at DavidWeslow.com.

Michael: Hey, Sherpa Network. Thanks so much for joining me today. My name is Michael Cyger and I’m the publisher of domainsherpa.com, the website where you can learn how to become a successful domain name investor or entrepreneur directly from the experts. This is the show called Profitable Flips. In this series, I invite domain name investors to share all the details of how they bought low and sold high. Today, I’m pleased to welcome Marty Pelletier, a domain name investor based in Colorado. Welcome to the show Marty.

Marty Pelletier: How are you doing Mike?

Michael: Doing great. It’s great to have you have you here. I love to start these profitable flip shows with the basics, so that people know the magnitude of the deal, before we get into like all of the details from A to Z.

Marty: Sure.
