I Just Watched “Berlin Wall Guards Tell Harrowing Tales Of East Germany | Our History” on YouTube

This was very interesting…. and also heart breaking at the same time. It came out in 1991, so not long after the wall had fallen. At the end, one of the guards thought he may have to eventually face charges from the West.

One part that really touched me was a former guard who shot a father of two in 1962 came to visit and ask for the sons’ forgiveness. It was very very good, definitely worth a watch.

I would love to know what happened to the people interviewed and how everything ended up. I’m sure some of them are no longer with us.

Life is so fleeting, isn’t it? The older I get and the more I study history, the more I realize how true that actually is.
