This is a documentary that chronicles three University students digging a tunnel underneath the Berlin Wall. It was financed by NBC. The students were given the equivalent of $150k for the exclusive rights to film them digging. It was hosted by Piers Anderton who was 44 years old at the time. He died 41 years later at 85 years old.
Construction had just started in August of 1961, I found it interesting that a major network condoned doing something this dangerous. It was also during the Cuban Missle Crisis… so a lot was going on in the early 60’s.
If it weren’t for YouTube I would have never known it existed. It was very interesting.
